Our ministry has four components, and we encourage our youth to participate fully to get the most out of this community and all that it has to offer in the way of friendship and mentorship.
Large Group Events
The Youth Committee hosts several large group events during the year. Throughout the year we are hoping the youth build relationships between all students that attend, so please encourage your child to come even though it may be hard at first. Examples of previous events are Aerial Park, Laser Tag, Paintball, Nakamun Retreat, Ski trips, Corn Maze, Movie Nights, and Gym Nights.
Small Groups
Our Small Group leaders host 5 small group sessions running from late October through to April. Each session begins with dinner in the leader's home and includes a group discussion, devotion, or Bible lesson. The groups are divided by grade. Our goal is to have the same leaders stay with the small group from grade 7-12 or alternatively for grade 7-9 with new leaders taking over from grades 10-12. This allows the youth to establish a relationship with their leaders.
Fundraisers
Each year we host several fundraisers with the goal of keeping fees to a minimum. Our fundraisers are often tied to community service so everyone is encourage to participate in them; it also helps to keep our programs accessible to everyone. Some examples of fundraisers include the All-Church Potato and Pulled Pork Suppers and a Cheese Sale
Missions
Our Youth have partnered with the missions committee to participate in service projects which vary from year to year. We aim to enable each youth to participate in at least 1 main mission trip during their 6 years with us. We also look for ways for the youth to participate in important local missions such as helping FCSS do a food drive.
